The Amarillo High Sandies faced Clint Horizon in the Area Championship series in Seminole. In the first game senior Rhett Maynard and junior Spencer Thurman pitched complete shutouts which lead the Sandies to a 10-0 win against Horizon. In the second game senior Karson Kite battled at the mound with four strikeouts in five innings. Thurman and junior Peyton Conner came in to relief. Conner finished strong getting the last three outs. The Sandies won 8-5 and were named the Area Champions. The Sandies will head to Odessa Permian for round three of playoffs where they will play El Paso Bel Air in the quarter finals.
