    A Tale Of Two Halves

Annual Rivalry Game Leaves Sandies one Point Behind.
    A+Tale+Of+Two+Halves

What a game as the Amarillo High Sandies took on the Tascosa Rebels in the highly anticipated district matchup. The instant classic started with Amarillo High jumping out to a 27-0 lead with still 23 minutes and 46 seconds left on clock. Tascosa would milk every second of the remaining time in their own scoring of 28 unanswered, sealing the big district and rivalry win over Amarillo High 28-27.

Amarillo High could do no wrong in that first half as Brock Wade connected with Jameson Garcia and Cayden Phillips for touchdowns in the first half. Levi Slaydon also found the endzone for a 2 yard run, where the extra point would ultimately get blocked, a key contributor to Tascosa sealing the victory. Davin Lemmons opened the second half with a 96 yard kickoff return to the crib and everything seemed to be going the Sandies way… until Major Everhart arrived. Major Everhart rushed for 237 yards on 21 carries and scored all 3 of his touchdowns in the second half alone. Everyone on the field and in the stands got used to seeing the back of 16’s jersey because once he got going, no one could catch him. An absolutely unforgettable performance in an unforgettable game that left Sandie fans going home sour and Tascosa fans going home ecstatic.
