Jellycats have swept the media over the last few months as a cuddly and unique stuffed toy that comes in a variety of styles, colors and themes. I pride myself as an owner of over a dozen of them. Their addictive nature has led many, along with myself, into the continuous purchases because of their adorable advertising and popularity. Jellycats look like animals and inanimate objects, often themed for holidays and restaurants in various collections. When I saw the updated and new additions to the winter collection, I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered two Christmas themed: The Amusables Gingerbread House and the Bartholomew Bear Winter Pyjamas.
The quality of the Jellycats and their presentation exceeded my initial expectations. The Jellycats arrived in separate patterned drawstring bags with the logo printed on the front, prepackaged in a perfect way to gift one to someone else. The high quality fur and details stood out to me as soon as I took them out of the bags. The gingerbread house had frosting swirl and red curtain stitches, adding to the creative and detail oriented elements. The Bartholomew Bear’s pajamas had velcro for interchangeable outfits and the texture of real human pajamas.
I found the website very organized and easy to maneuver, but sometimes it would refresh at random moments. I became involved with the graphics so much that I ended up ordering the Bartholomew Bear while on the hunt for the gingerbread house. The website and the links inside of it loaded very quickly, making the order very simple to make. Buying the Jellycats overall was a pleasant experience, as it arrived in a short amount of time and sent me shipping information and updates.
The popularity of Jellycats arose from its incredible marketing and variety. The brand knows how to cater towards its audience through platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. The variety of animals, food, objects and more selections of the Jellycats intrigues older audiences that do not gravitate toward plushes. I did find a downside to the brand while choosing which ones to buy. The price of every plush exceeds those of many other brands. While the quality did impress me, I paid much more than what I consider a reasonable price for them. I paid $50 for the gingerbread house and $45 for the bear in pajamas. This brand’s price range hangs around $40 for everything, which is almost double the price of a typical stuffed animal or plushie.
I will still continue to purchase Jellycats regardless of the elevated price because I enjoy the quality of them and the excitement of collecting them. The hobby grasped many people unexpectedly, but I joined with pride. I recommend buying one if you like collections, cute decorations or stuffed animals.
