Normally, people think of movies about celebrities’ lives, usually a live-action shot movie comes to mind, but not for the movie “Piece by Piece”. This movie, shot as a lego movie, details the life of singer/songwriter Pharrel Williams from childhood to now.
Released in theaters on Oct 21, 2024, “Piece by Piece” marks the fifth Lego-based theatrical film. As of Oct 29, and streaming on Google Play Movie, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Youtube, as well as Amazon Prime Video, people can now watch it from the comfort of their own home.
Starring Pharrel Williams, Morgan Neville, Kendrick Lamar, Chad Hugo, Snoop Dogg, Daft punk and several others, “Piece by Piece” had a confusing, yet appealing set of visuals. I would not recommend the movie for people who struggle with paying attention to movies.
The movie starts off talking about Pharrel Williams’ early childhood, highlighting who he hung out with and who he met during those years. You do not just get it from his point of view, but also from his parents and friends.
Throughout the movie it shows the progression of his music from his childhood to now. The movie shows how his music has grown and changed not only in production quality, but style as well.
Unfortunately, every movie has flaws. It had this boring feel to it, like some documentaries have. Some people thoroughly enjoy documentaries while others steer away from them. Unfortunately for me, despite the likable voice actors the movie still left me bored.
Despite the occasional flaws, “Piece by Piece” turned out well liked overall. Fans of Pharell Williams and the other celebrities featured in the movie would probably have a positive view of the movie.
