After the demon king, Gwi Ma, realizes that the Honmoon is almost completely sealed, he sends out his last hope, a demon boy band that would hopefully steal the hearts and souls of Huntrix’s fans.
This movie has a lot of amazing music. Its top song, Golden, remained as Spotify’s top charted song for 46 consecutive days. It also topped both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts, a first for fictional works. The music has reached over three billion streams on various streaming platforms while the movie itself has reached 266 million views on Netflix as of September 3, 2025. This caused K-Pop Demon Hunters to become the most streamed movie on Netflix. They have also won a number of other awards.
Due to its massive success, Netflix decided to put K-Pop Demon Hunters out in certain theaters as a sing along experience. Over 1,300 theaters completely sold out, and it made an estimated $16-20 million in its two day limited theater appearance.
When I first heard of K-Pop Demon Hunters, it seemed strange and kind of weird. I did not really want to watch it. However, I heard so many good things about it to the point that I finally watched it. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. The music is really catchy and well written. The plot works way better than I could have ever anticipated. The humor lands really well, and while it does have its fair share of awkward moments, the writers wrote it in such a way that the more embarrassing moments are balanced out perfectly by the more serious moments. I had no prior knowledge of K-Pop before this movie, which made me worry that I would not understand all the references in this movie. That did not happen at all. The writing made it to where no one needs any prior knowledge in order to enjoy it. I highly recommend this movie.
