While students walked through the hallways, navigating and going through the start of the second semester, a miniature celebration took place in room 104. With balloons and a cookie cake, the Teacher of the Year award was bestowed. This past week, on Jan 20, Coach Roddrick Watkins was announced as the Teacher of the Year.
“It feels incredibly humbling and truly an honor,” Watkins said. “I’m grateful and blessed to be chosen by my coworkers, people I respect and work alongside everyday.”
Peers around Watkins believe he represents what it means to be a Sandie, improving the lives of students and staff members around him. The award itself shows his responsibility, humility and effort behind everything Watkins does for everyone around him.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for me and believes in me,” Watkins said. “This recognition means more than I can put into words, and I don’t take it lightly.”
