After a competitive season and successful regional and district meets, the 2025-2026 swim team advanced to the state level where Alec Purdy placed second and fourth in his events.
The team competed in the Regional Meet on Feb. 6 and Feb. 7, and the State Meet on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at University of Texas at Austin with five team members competing in multiple races.
In his fourth year advancing to state, Purdy completed the 100 Backstroke in second place and the 100 fly in fourth place.
“I feel pretty good about advancing to State all four years,” Purdy said. “It’s been an achievement that is up there for me in my accomplishments. I’m kind of sad that it was my last time going to state. I wish I had more time and could’ve done more while in high school.”
With more podium finishes than Head Coach Lee has ever experienced, the boys team finished second overall at Regionals. During this meet senior Alec Purdy set Regional records in both the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Backstroke. Those that competed and advanced to state are:
-Alec Purdy – Regional Champion in both the 100 Fly & 100 Backstroke; also qualified in 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays
-James Drozell – Regional Champion in the 100 Freestyle; also qualified in the 50 Freestyle and 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays
