.All-State Choir wrapped their final rounds of auditions on Jan. 5 and 6.
The Sandies that made the choir consist of Tristan Ard, Ryken Tucker, Emmalynn Reilly, Elanna Weber and Elizabeth Worsham. These five had to go through multiple waves of judges and learn different music for each round.
“The process has us go through four rounds of auditions, district, region, pre-area and area as the final round, which accepts five people out of twenty per section,” Tucker said.
All of the students practiced hard and felt well-equipped for the auditions.
“I feel like I was prepared, but I didn’t think I was good enough to make it all the way to the state level, however, I was able to make it through all these challenges,” Ard said. “I have a private voice instructor and I feel she prepared me for the first three rounds before state.”
Learning the music took quite a while for all participating.
“I started learning the music last summer during the All-State choir camp. Since then I have worked with my two voice teachers as well as spending countless hours working on the music on my own time.” Reilly said. “In the weeks leading up to the final audition, I practiced for at least an hour every day, working on my music as well as sight reading.”
