Student Council hosts Howdy week August 26-30 to kick off the new school year and welcome new students. The week starts off with Get Clubbed on Monday night and includes dress-up days throughout the week.
Get Clubbed starts Monday at 6 P.M. in the Commons. Different clubs and organizations set up tables to give students the opportunity to get involved with groups that share their interests.
Howdy week started in the 1940s as a way for students to get to know each other, and during that week the students would wear name tags that said “Hey, Hi, Hello and Howdy”, inspiring the name. The week often featured picnics as well as dances and started the idea of having the dress-up days every year. Despite the changes in the tradition, the purpose has always been to encourage school spirit and give students the ability to connect and express themselves.
Students and teachers must remain in dress code with outfits.
