Every year, the cheerleaders put on pep rally performances before home games to get the crowd excited to cheer on their school. Stunts are thrown, cheers are called and the whole student body gets involved. Cheerleaders dedicate hours to preparing for pep rallies and games, making them memorable for the student body.
In the last few weeks, cheer has conducted pep rallies and prepared for all home games. Most students look forward to Friday night games, which is why the cheerleaders put in an effort to kick off the game with a pep rally.
“Practice before pep rallies is a little chaotic and stressful trying to get everything done, but once the adrenaline kicks in we get so hype and excited to show what we spent so long working on,” sophomore Zoie Carrizales said.
Cheerleaders work hard to make sure that the pep rallies are full of energy. To ensure that high energy, the cheer squad constantly drills cheers and formations in its practices.
“We all have to give our all in practice to be able to put on a good pep rally,” sophomore Sadie Collins said, “We take time out of our lives to cheer on others, and we all enjoy doing it. I love being able to do what I love and show it off to my peers.”
A good pep rally shows that the team can set goals and work in harmony.
“Our goal as a team for pep rallies is to have teamwork and have a positive mindset going into what we’re doing,” sophomore Kaydence Stockton said.
Cheerleaders extensively plans and conducts run-throughs to perfect their pep rally routine. With all the industrious work they put in, success is shown through the crowd’s reactions.
“All of our planning goes into how we can get the crowd loud and entertained,” senior Annabelle Gladman said. “The whole point of a pep rally is to get hype for the game and that’s the thing we look the most forward to doing.”
Students tend to enjoy the pep rallies when the energy appears higher, and the cheerleaders bring the energy and excitement to the pep rallies.
“I really like how the pep rally is conducted this year,” sophomore Rediet Habte said. “You can really see how the cheerleaders work together to make a successful performance.”
