2025 was a year full of new music and popular releases. New artists rose to fame and familiar faces continue to strike the music industry with hits. Female pop took over the music industry releasing hit after hit. Vocals of famous pop girls flow through headphones and radios, as they fill the charts and Spotify streams. The influx of female pop artists led to sold out arena tours and a flood of awards. The beginning only started for the female pop takeover.
Starting the year off strong new female artists rose to fame. Sabrina Carpenter’s sudden switch to pop princess in 2024 continued into 2025 with the success of “Short ‘n Sweet” and her newest album “Man’s Best Friend.” Tate McRae made her moment in the music industry with her album “So Close to What.” Chappell Roan continues to shock the world with her album from 2023 “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” and released her newest song “Subway” in July of 2025. Lastly, Gracie Abrams still leads as a soft pop princess with her album “The Secret of Us” released in 2024. New artists have taken over the world and formed their die hard fan bases in the year of 2025. This year has brought the music industry new household names that will continue to bring the world the gift of music.
“My favorite female pop artist was definitely Sabrina Carpenter,” sophomore Kaevi Stroud said. “Her songs are so catchy and always cheer me up whenever I’m down.”
This year has also brought many sold out tours. 2025 brought amazing concert options for fans. Lady Gaga started the “Mayhem Ball” tour on July 16 2025 and ended on April 13 spanning 87 shows across the world. Billie Eilish started the “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour on Sept. 29, 2024 and ended on Nov. 23, 2025 with 106 sold out shows, earning her $300 million dollars. Tate McRae went on her first arena tour known as the “Miss Possessive” tour. She performed 83 shows with 77 of them sold out, earning $110.8 million. Lastly, Sabrina Carpenter went on her “Short n’ Sweet” tour from Sept. 23. 2024 to Nov. 23, 2025 with 72 shows sold out. Popular tours of 2025 have been consistently all female pop stars due to the role they hold in the music industry at this time.
“I went to Tate McRae this year and I had so much fun,” sophomore Zoie Carrizales said. “She knows how to put on a good show full of dancing, impressive vocals, and insane visuals.”
Female pop music has also taken over Spotify streams. Taylor Swift dominates as the most streamed female artist globally on Spotify and had the most first day streams for a female in 2025 for her song “The Fate of Ophelia” in new album “Life of a Showgirl.” Other artists follow Taylor like Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, SZA and Sabrina Carpenter. Female pop artists have also filled the chart of most streamed pop albums. Taylor Swift takes the title as the most streamed female album of 2025 for “The Life of a Showgirl.” Billboard 200 Best Selling Albums includes Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, Cardi B, Lady Gaga and Tate McRae. More female pop albums are set to release next year, and excitement fills the fanbases.
“My favorite female pop album of 2025 was probably ‘The Secret of Us’ by Gracie Abrams,” sophomore Avery Johnson said. “That album is comforting in so many ways, and the lyrics make me feel so seen.”
Female pop has also been awarded many awards in 2025. AMA’s awarded many pop females of 2025. Billie Eilish won seven AMA’s including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. MTV awarded Sabrina Carpenter Best Pop Artist and Best Album. MTV awards also included Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga.
“Female pop deserved of all of the awards it earned this year, “ sophomore Audrey Tayor said, “It brought so many new sounds and artists to the world, and that deserves the credit.”
Female pop has made its stance in the music industry for decades. It is intriguing to continue to see new creations from new or old favorite artists. History continues to be made by the females in the pop industry.
